Marco Ripani

Dr. Marco Ripani is Research Director at the Genoa Unit of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), where he has built a distinguished career at the intersection of fundamental physics and applied nuclear energy. After years of working in nuclear physics research, he shifted focus to the INFN Energy Project—leading national and European efforts in nuclear waste management, safety, advanced fission reactors, and nuclear fusion.

Dr. Ripani heads INFN’s participation in key international collaborations, including the Eurofusion Consortium and the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT) facility in Frascati. He also serves as Italy’s representative on the Euratom-Fission Program Committee and is a member of the Committee of Experts under Article 37 of the Euratom Treaty, which evaluates environmental safety standards for nuclear installations.

A respected figure in European nuclear strategy, Dr. Ripani contributes to the Energy Working Group of ESFRI (European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastructures) and sits on the Board of Directors of the Italian Nuclear Association, representing INFN among stakeholders from industry, academia, and research institutions.
