Ian Sosso
Founder of Monte Carlo Capital | Award-Winning Angel Investor | Former Capital Markets Executive
Ian Sosso is the founder of Monte Carlo Capital (MCC), an early-stage venture capital firm, where Ian is originally from. Winner of the 2019 “Best European Early Stage Investor” award from EBAN, Ian has built MCC from a personal angel investment vehicle into a global VC operation backing disruptive technologies from seed to growth.
MCC invests across the US, UK, and Europe, targeting companies with strong technological moats, visionary founders, and the potential to transform industries—from artificial intelligence and space tech to medical devices, fintech, and energy distribution. As a hands-on Solo GP, Ian has led up to four consecutive financing rounds in select ventures, with support from a network of HNWIs and family office principals.
Before launching MCC in 2009, Ian served as Regional Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets for Commerzbank in Asia, overseeing equity derivatives, FX, credit, metals, and debt markets across major hubs. His 30-year career includes roles at HSBC, UBS, and JPMorgan in Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
A seasoned public speaker, Ian has delivered keynotes at conferences around the world and previously taught venture capital and entrepreneurial finance at the International University of Monaco. He sits on the board of EBAN and the Monaco Venture Capital Association, and holds an MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE).
